eng.battery-capacity Calculator
Calculates battery energy capacity (Wh), usable energy at a discharge depth, and discharge time from capacity (Ah) and voltage. Lithium-ion batteries should not be discharged below 20% state of charge to preserve cycle life — this determines usable capacity.
Inputs
Capacity Ah
Maximum throughput or storage. Operating near 100% capacity typically increases failures and wait times.
Voltage
Electric potential difference (V). Drives current through a circuit. Household: 120 V (US) or 230 V (EU/UK).
Load W
Applied force or weight (N or kN). Divide into dead load (permanent) and live load (variable — people, wind, etc.).
Dod
Vertical extent downward, or thickness of a layer. For tanks: affects pressure at the base (P = ρgh).
Results
usable energy
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
discharge time
The computed duration or time value.
C-rate
The value at the specified point or condition.
total energy
The combined total across all inputs and components.
