eng.pipe-flow-hazen-williams Calculator
Calculates pipe flow rate or headloss using the Hazen-Williams empirical formula for water distribution systems. Hazen-Williams is restricted to water at normal temperatures — the Darcy-Weisbach equation is more accurate across fluids, temperatures, and pipe sizes.
Inputs
Flow Gpm
Volume of fluid per unit time. Used to size pipes, pumps, and ducts.
Pipe Diameter In
Internal diameter of the pipe. Larger diameter reduces velocity and pressure drop but increases material cost.
C Factor
A multiplier applied in the calculation.
Length Ft
Linear measurement. Ensure consistent units: 1 m = 1,000 mm = 3.281 ft.
Results
head loss (ft)
The decrease or degradation from the baseline.
velocity (fps)
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
velocity (m/s)
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
pressure loss (psi)
The decrease or degradation from the baseline.
C factor
A dimensionless multiplier applied in the calculation.
