health.body-surface-area-burns Calculator
Calculates paediatric burn TBSA using the Lund-Browder chart age-corrected values, which is more accurate than the adult Rule of Nines for children. Children have proportionally larger heads and smaller lower extremities than adults — the Lund-Browder chart corrects for this.
Inputs
Head Pct
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Trunk Pct
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Right Arm Pct
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Left Arm Pct
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Right Leg Pct
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Results
TBSA burned (%)
BSA (body surface area) -- total skin surface in m2. Estimated by the Mosteller or DuBois formula. Used for chemotherapy dosing, burn assessment, and cardiac indices.
burn severity
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
Parkland fluid resuscitation (mL first 4hr)
First-24-hour IV fluid volume (4 mL × weight kg × % TBSA burned). Half given in the first 8 hours post-injury, the rest over 16 hours. Critical for preventing burn shock.
