Calculates albumin-corrected total calcium to adjust for hypoalbuminaemia (add 0.8 mg/dL per 1 g/dL fall in albumin below 4 g/dL). Hypoalbuminaemia lowers measured total calcium but not ionised calcium — uncorrected, hypocalcaemia is missed and hypercalcaemia is masked.
