health.mammography-dose-estimate Calculator
Estimates the mean glandular dose from mammography from the compressed breast thickness and kVp, and calculates lifetime cancer risk from the dose. The mean glandular dose from a standard 2-view mammogram is approximately 3–4 mGy — the risk is much smaller than the benefit of detecting breast cancer.
Inputs
Agd Mgy
Amount of medication administered per period. Most dosing is weight-based — verify with a licensed prescriber before clinical use.
Breast Thickness Mm
Perpendicular measurement through the material. For insulation: thicker is better. For beams: directly affects bending resistance.
Glandularity Pct
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Results
AGD (mGy)
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
lifetime cancer risk per screening
Overall risk level based on the computed score or classification. Higher risk may call for mitigating actions or additional review.
relative risk increase
Overall risk level based on the computed score or classification. Higher risk may call for mitigating actions or additional review.
ACR target
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
benefit vs risk
Overall risk level based on the computed score or classification. Higher risk may call for mitigating actions or additional review.
