health.reaction-time-distance Calculator
Calculates the additional stopping distance accumulated during the driver's reaction time before braking begins, at a given speed. A 0.75-second reaction time at 60 mph adds 20 metres of travel before braking starts — the primary reason stopping distances grow so rapidly with speed.
Inputs
Reaction Time Ms
Duration of the process. Make sure units match the rate inputs (seconds, minutes, or hours).
Speed Mph
Rate of movement. 1 m/s = 3.6 km/h = 2.237 mph.
Braking Decel G
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
