health.respiratory-rate Calculator
Calculates minute ventilation, alveolar ventilation, and dead space fraction from tidal volume, respiratory rate, and anatomical dead space. Normal minute ventilation is 5–8 L/min; the dead space fraction (typically 30%) means only 70% of each breath participates in gas exchange.
Inputs
Breaths Per Min
Amount per unit of time or per unit quantity. Check the denominator before interpreting.
Tidal Volume Ml
Three-dimensional space occupied (m³ or L). 1 m³ = 1,000 L.
Dead Space Ml
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Fio2 Pct
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Results
minute ventilation (L/min)
The value at the specified point or condition.
alveolar ventilation (L/min)
The value at the specified point or condition.
dead space fraction
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
O2 delivery (L/min)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
RR status
Current state of the system, process, or metric — typically pass/fail, healthy/warning/critical, or a descriptive classification.
