Calculates carbon nanotube electronic bandgap from chirality indices (n,m): E_g = 0.9/d eV where d = 0.0783√(n²+nm+m²) nm. Armchair SWCNTs (n=m) are metallic (zero bandgap); all others are semiconducting — semiconducting SWCNTs with d ≈ 1 nm have E_g ≈ 0.9 eV, suitable for transistors.
