sci.gel-permeation-chromatography-PDI Calculator
Calculates number-average (Mn) and weight-average (Mw) molecular weights and PDI = Mw/Mn from GPC chromatogram with relative detector response. PDI = 1.0 is perfectly monodisperse (living polymerisation); PDI ≈ 2.0 is step-growth; PDI > 3 indicates branching or broad distribution.
Inputs
- Mn Da
- Body or object weight. For health calculators, usually in kg or lbs.
- Mw Da
- Body or object weight. For health calculators, usually in kg or lbs.
- Mz Da
- Body or object weight. For health calculators, usually in kg or lbs.
Results
- polydispersity index PDI = Mw/Mn
- A normalised score comparing the result to a reference baseline.
- second polydispersity Mz/Mw
- ISP (specific impulse) — rocket engine efficiency in seconds. Higher ISP means more thrust per kilogram of propellant consumed.
- number-average degree of polymerization DPn
- The arithmetic mean -- sum divided by count.
- weight-average DP DPw
- The arithmetic mean -- sum divided by count.
- PDI interpretation
- Qualitative summary of what the computed numbers mean in practical terms.
- ideal living polymer
- Sample size or count used in the calculation.
