sci.Green-Ampt-infiltration Calculator
Calculates Green-Ampt infiltration rate f = K(1 + ψΔθ/F) and cumulative infiltration F as a function of time for a given soil type. Green-Ampt requires soil parameters: saturated hydraulic conductivity K, wetting front suction ψ, and moisture deficit Δθ — sandy soils have K ≈ 50 mm/hr; clay K ≈ 0.3 mm/hr.
Inputs
Ks Mm Hr
Amount per unit of time or per unit quantity. Check the denominator before interpreting.
Psi Mm
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Theta D
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
T Hr
Duration of the process. Make sure units match the rate inputs (seconds, minutes, or hours).
Results
cumulative infiltration F (mm)
The proportional relationship between two quantities.
infiltration rate at time t (mm/hr)
The proportional relationship between two quantities.
saturated Ks (mm/hr)
The value at the specified point or condition.
wetting front suction ψ (mm)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
f = Ks(1 + ψ·Δθ/F)
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
soil classification (Ks)
Category assigned based on where the computed value falls on a defined scale. Check which standard or guideline defines these boundaries.
