sci.lithium-battery-C-rate-capacity Calculator
Calculates lithium battery C-rate (discharge current as multiple of capacity) and estimated runtime: t = 1/C hours at constant C-rate. 1C discharge of a 100 Ah battery delivers 100 A for 1 hour; 2C delivers 200 A for 30 min — capacity decreases at higher C-rates due to internal resistance losses.
Inputs
Capacity Ah
Maximum throughput or storage. Operating near 100% capacity typically increases failures and wait times.
C Rate
Amount per unit of time or per unit quantity. Check the denominator before interpreting.
Efficiency Pct
Useful output divided by total input, as a percentage. 100% is impossible due to losses (heat, friction, resistance).
Cycle N
Count of items or occurrences.
Results
charge/discharge current I (A)
Electric charge flow rate (A). Governs wire sizing — too much current causes dangerous heating. Fuses protect circuits from overcurrent.
time for full cycle (hours)
The result expressed in hours. Divide by 24 to convert to days.
actual capacity after n cycles (Ah)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
capacity fade after n cycles (Ah)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
I = C-rate × C_nominal
The value at the specified point or condition.
cycle life
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
