sci.Lorentz-factor-relativity Calculator
Calculates the Lorentz factor γ = 1/√(1−v²/c²) and relativistic time dilation, length contraction, and mass-energy from particle velocity. At v = 0.866c, γ = 2 — muons created 10 km up in the atmosphere (v ≈ 0.998c, γ ≈ 15) survive to sea level because time dilation extends their 2.2 µs half-life to 33 µs.
Inputs
Velocity Pct C
Speed in a specified direction (m/s). Required for momentum, kinetic energy, and wave calculations.
Results
Lorentz factor γ
A dimensionless multiplier applied in the calculation.
time dilation: 1 year ship = (years Earth)
The computed duration or time value.
length contraction factor
A dimensionless multiplier applied in the calculation.
kinetic energy (electron, MeV)
Energy of motion: KE = ½mv². Scales with the SQUARE of velocity — doubling speed quadruples kinetic energy. This is why crash severity grows so rapidly with speed.
γ = 1/√(1-β²)
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
mass increase factor
A dimensionless multiplier applied in the calculation.
