sci.Rabinowitsch-correction-viscosity Calculator
Calculates the true (corrected) shear rate at the capillary wall from apparent shear rate using the Rabinowitsch correction: γ̇_true = γ̇_app(3n+1)/4n. Without the Rabinowitsch correction, capillary rheometry underestimates wall shear rate for shear-thinning fluids — the correction is largest when the power-law index n is far from 1.
Inputs
Tau W Pa
Internal force per unit area (Pa or MPa). Must stay below yield strength in service.
Gamma App S
Amount per unit of time or per unit quantity. Check the denominator before interpreting.
N Power Law
Rate of energy transfer (W). P = V×I (electrical). P = F×v (mechanical). 1 horsepower ≈ 746 W.
Results
true wall shear rate γ̇_true (1/s)
The value at the specified point or condition.
apparent viscosity η_app (Pa·s)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
true viscosity η_true (Pa·s)
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
consistency coefficient K (Pa·sⁿ)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
γ_true = γ_app·(3n+1)/(4n)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
fluid class
The classification assigned based on the computed value.
