sci.rational-method-peak-runoff Calculator
Calculates peak storm runoff using the Rational Method: Q = C × i × A / 360 (in m³/s with A in hectares and i in mm/hr). The Rational Method is limited to catchments < 200 ha — concentration time tc must equal the storm duration for peak runoff to occur.
Inputs
C Runoff
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
I Mmhr
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
A Ha
Two-dimensional surface extent (m²). For complex shapes, break into simpler sub-shapes and sum.
Results
peak flow Q (m³/s)
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
peak flow (cusec, ft³/s)
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
peak flow (L/min)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
Q = C·I·A / 360 (metric)
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
