sci.Redlich-Kwong-compressibility Calculator
Calculates real gas compressibility factor Z from the Redlich-Kwong equation of state: P = RT/(V−b) − a/(T^0.5 V(V+b)). RK-EOS is more accurate than van der Waals but less so than Peng-Robinson for liquids — the Soave modification (SRK) adds a temperature-dependent α(T) term for VLE calculations.
Inputs
Tc K
Thermal state of the substance. Check whether the formula needs Celsius, Fahrenheit, or Kelvin (K = °C + 273.15).
Pc Atm
Force per unit area (Pa). Atmospheric pressure at sea level: 101,325 Pa. Check whether gauge or absolute pressure is required.
T K
Thermal state of the substance. Check whether the formula needs Celsius, Fahrenheit, or Kelvin (K = °C + 273.15).
P Atm
Force per unit area (Pa). Atmospheric pressure at sea level: 101,325 Pa. Check whether gauge or absolute pressure is required.
Results
compressibility Z (RK approx.)
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
RK constant a (cm⁶·atm·K^0.5/mol²)
The value at the specified point or condition.
RK constant b (cm³/mol)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
Redlich & Kwong 1949: P = RT/(V−b) − a/[T^0.5·V(V+b)]
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
temperature ratio T/Tc
The proportional relationship between two quantities.
accuracy vs P-R EOS
The fraction of predictions or measurements that are correct. High accuracy is only meaningful when the class distribution is balanced.
