sci.reverberation-time-Sabine-Eyring Calculator
Calculates room reverberation time using both Sabine (RT60 = 0.161V/A) and Eyring formulas (RT60 = 0.161V/(−S×ln(1−ᾱ))) from room volume and absorption. Eyring's formula is more accurate for high-absorption rooms — Sabine significantly overestimates RT60 when mean absorption coefficient ᾱ > 0.3.
Inputs
V M3
Three-dimensional space occupied (m³ or L). 1 m³ = 1,000 L.
A Absorption
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Alpha Avg
Age in completed years. Many health and fitness formulas adjust for age.
S Total M2
Two-dimensional surface extent (m²). For complex shapes, break into simpler sub-shapes and sum.
Results
RT60 — Sabine (s)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
RT60 — Eyring-Norris (s)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
total absorption A (sabins)
The combined total across all inputs and components.
T_60 = 0.161·V/A (Sabine 1900)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
target RT60 by room type
The classification or type assigned based on the inputs.
room acoustic class
The classification assigned based on the computed value.
