sci.room-reverberation-Eyring Calculator
Calculates room reverberation time using the Eyring-Norris formula RT60 = 0.161V/(−S ln(1−ᾱ) + 4mV), including air absorption coefficient m. Eyring formula is preferred for reverberant rooms or when mean absorption coefficient ᾱ > 0.3 — Sabine overestimates RT60 by 20–50% in these conditions.
Inputs
V M3
Three-dimensional space occupied (m³ or L). 1 m³ = 1,000 L.
S M2
Two-dimensional surface extent (m²). For complex shapes, break into simpler sub-shapes and sum.
Alpha Avg
Age in completed years. Many health and fitness formulas adjust for age.
Results
RT60 Eyring (s)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
RT60 Sabine (s)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
Sabine overestimate (%)
The value at the specified point or condition.
Eyring: RT60 = −0.161·V/[S·ln(1−ᾱ)]
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
which formula to use
The specific form or variant of the result.
