sci.runoff-rational-method Calculator
Calculates peak stormwater runoff using the Rational Method: Q = CiA, where C is runoff coefficient, i is rainfall intensity, and A is drainage area. The Rational Method applies for small catchments (<200 ha) with concentration times <30 minutes.
Inputs
Catchment Area Ha
Two-dimensional surface extent (m²). For complex shapes, break into simpler sub-shapes and sum.
Runoff Coeff
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Intensity Mm Hr
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Tc Min
Amount of solute per unit volume. Higher concentration = more solute dissolved.
Results
peak runoff rate (m³/s)
The value at the specified point or condition.
peak runoff (L/s)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
catchment area (ha)
The computed two-dimensional surface area.
runoff coefficient
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
Q = C × i × A (rational method)
The recommended calculation method or analytical approach for these conditions.
