sci.sampling-theorem-nyquist Calculator
Calculates the Nyquist sampling rate required to reconstruct a bandlimited signal: f_s ≥ 2f_max, and the aliasing frequency for undersampled signals. Audio CD quality samples at 44.1 kHz (twice the 22 kHz hearing limit) — aliasing above the Nyquist frequency folds back as spurious low-frequency artefacts.
Inputs
Signal Bandwidth Hz
Horizontal extent perpendicular to the length.
Sampling Rate Hz
Amount per unit of time or per unit quantity. Check the denominator before interpreting.
Adc Bits
Vertical extent downward, or thickness of a layer. For tanks: affects pressure at the base (P = ρgh).
Results
Nyquist rate (Hz)
The value at the specified point or condition.
oversampling ratio
The proportional relationship between two quantities.
SNR (theoretical, dB)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
dynamic range (dB)
The difference between the maximum and minimum values.
