sci.sampling-theorem Calculator
Calculates the minimum sample rate for alias-free digital signal reconstruction from the signal bandwidth. Shannon-Nyquist theorem: sample at ≥2× the highest frequency component — anti-aliasing filters remove signal components above Nyquist before ADC to prevent foldback.
Inputs
Max Frequency Hz
Cycles per second (Hz). Audible sound: 20 Hz – 20 kHz. Make sure units match what the formula expects.
Sample Rate Hz
Amount per unit of time or per unit quantity. Check the denominator before interpreting.
Bit Depth
Vertical extent downward, or thickness of a layer. For tanks: affects pressure at the base (P = ρgh).
Channels
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Results
adequate sampling?
Whether the computed capacity, strength, or resource meets the minimum requirement.
Nyquist rate minimum
The smallest value in the dataset or feasible range.
actual sample rate
The value at the specified point or condition.
uncompressed bitrate (kbps)
Size or value after compression is applied.
dynamic range (dB)
The difference between the maximum and minimum values.
CD: 44100 Hz, 16-bit
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
