sci.sugar-Brix-refractometry Calculator
Calculates sugar concentration from Brix refractometer reading (°Bx ≈ weight% sucrose) and converts to density and specific gravity. 1 °Bx = 1 g sucrose per 100 g solution — grape juice at 24 °Bx will ferment to ~13.5% ABV wine (each 17.5 g/L sugar produces 1% ABV).
Inputs
Refractive Index
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Temperature C
Thermal state of the substance. Check whether the formula needs Celsius, Fahrenheit, or Kelvin (K = °C + 273.15).
Sample Type
Reference formula or conversion factor shown for context.
Results
Brix (°Bx) at 20°C
The value at the specified point or condition.
temperature-corrected Brix
The value at the specified point or condition.
approx. sugar content (g/100mL)
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
Brix = (n - 1.33299) / 0.000144
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
industry standards
Sample size or count used in the calculation.
ICUMSA method
The recommended calculation method or analytical approach for these conditions.
